This is the portfolio of my projects that I have done and in which I took part.

- " SA3 Browser : A Tool for classification and comparison of geographic areas ". July 2016 - December 2018.
Administrative data, analysed by geographical area in which people live or work, can tell us much about society. These typically concern individuals, but the data are aggregated into groups for the purpose of analysis. For example, looking at how health care use varies between people living in different areas, across people with and without socioeconomic disadvantage, can show who in our community is missing out. However, the selection of these units is generally based on criteria that do not necessary reflect socioeconomic homogeneous areas and may not relate to health. As a response to these issues, I developed a method and a software tool to enable the presentation and reporting of comparable information of individual units with peers. The Tool - SA3 Browser - is the first and only application of its kind that retrieves population counts and features of a geographic area and allows users to compare and groups geographies with similar characteristics.

- " Tools for the design of customizable catchment areas. " June 2015 - June 2016
In this project we will develop tools that can be used to design geographies that are optimal suited to study the variation of specific indicators, and that allow users to "customize" them, that is specify properties that need to be satisfied. We will focus on catchment areas, that is geographies used to study variation in the utilisation of services such as GP (Genral Practitioners) visits or hospital admissions.
The problem of designing catchment areas will be cast in the framework of discrete optimization, as the minimization of an objective function that contains two terms. The first term captures the fact that users want geographies such that patients in one unit mostly attend services in the same unit. The second term captures the fact that units must be homogeneous along certain user specified dimensions, and variation of certain variables should mostly occur across, but not within units. |

- " The conflict management in the Dempster and Shafer Theory of Evidence. " Master Thesis. Department of Informatic and Automation Engineering. Roma Tre University - 19/03/2014
Uncertainty is a fundamental and unavoidable feature of daily life: in order to deal with uncertainty, we need to be able to represent it and reason about it. In this work we face the problem applying the Dempster & Shafer Theory of Evidence model.
In particular, a new mathematical framework is proposed to manage the conflict among different agents in order to update the system belief. This model has been applied to unmanned robot navigation as well as to preserve the safety of an Automation plant such as Nuclear Reactor or a Manufacturing System. " Uncertainty is unconfortable.
But absolute certain is ridicolous. " |

- "An analytical approach to the Mechanics Vibration of Lumped and distributed parameter models." Department of Informatic and Automation Engineering. Roma Tre University - 10/05/2010.
Modeling is an important part of Engineering Vibrations. In these notes we provide a general coverage of mechanical vibration theory and application, with an emphasis on analytical solutions to vibration problems concerning lumped and distributed parameter models. The behavior of such models are described by a set of ordinary differential equations and partial differential equation. The computational aspects are not covered; However is a good beginning point for a further research.

- "The Recieding Horizont problem in the Model Predictive Control." Department of Informatic and Automation Engineering. Roma Tre University - 05/2010.
Model Predictive Control is recieving an on-going interest in both industrial and academic circles. Issues such as plant optimization and constrained control which are critical to industrial engineers are naturally embedded in its design. After the theoretical presentation, the technical content of this document moves to an implementation based on the state-space model to solve the Recieding Horizont control problem. In the second document there is a short description of its application in the Mobile Robot Trajectory Tracking problem.

- "A fuzzy PID logic controller for an automatic breaking system in trains. " Department of Informatic and Automation Engineering. Roma Tre University - 2008
The primary purpose of this document is to provide a design methodology in PID fuzzy control systems. This approach utilizes more information from domain experts and relies less on mathematical modeling about a physical system. Thereby offering a practical theory for automatic control of uncertain or imperfectly modeled systems encountered in non linear engeneering applications. This strategy has been applied to an elementary control breaking system of a train, based on Mac Vicar -Whelan Matrix model.

- "A feasibility study for the onshore wind energy project of Lentella ". TER/ADViSOR division of ENEA - 5/4/2007.
This document has been released during my internship at ENEA, it gives first guidelines for onshore wind energy project feasibility evaluation. The guidelines ment to be followed as help for the identification of the most important factors going onshore with wind energy project. These guidelines have been applied to the feasibility study of Lentella site; where an anemometer has collected the hour daily wind speed measurements over a period of eight months.

- "Analytic cost model for decontaminated land". TER/ADVISOR division of ENEA - 2007.
The purpose of this document is to give some guidelines as best practice guide for use by enviromentals consulants and authorities. They cover investigation and suggest remediation. The mathematical cost model has been used by ENEA for the securing action plan of Calancoi site (A Sardinian contaminated land of national relevance).
